A technical discussion with our Canadian customer turns into the starting point for a new moving head configuration.
A product is never really “finished” when customers have new requirements.
Recently, one of our Canadian customers visited us for a technical discussion about the MAG-760X moving head. Rather than simply presenting the existing fixture, we spent time discussing how the product would actually be used, what could be improved, and which functions would be more valuable in their lighting system.
For us, this kind of face-to-face discussion is an important part of product development. Different markets, rental companies and projects often have very different requirements. A specification that works well for one customer may not necessarily be the best solution for another.
Starting with the MAG-760X
The MAG-760X is based on a 7 × 60W LED optical platform, combining powerful output, zoom and multi-layer visual effects in one moving head fixture.
But this time, the customer was looking for more.
During the discussion, several specific requirements were raised:

Upgrade the LED source from 7 × 60W to 7 × 80W

Increase the overall output while developing from the existing optical platform

Add Art-Net

Adapt the control and system configuration to suit the customer's application
These requirements became the starting point for a new configuration:

More Power Is Only Part of the Upgrade
Changing from 60W to 80W LEDs sounds simple on paper. In practice, increasing the LED power affects much more than the light source itself.
Our engineering team needs to evaluate the complete system, including optical performance, heat management, power supply capacity, internal structure and long-term operating stability.
The goal is not simply to install a higher-power LED.
The goal is to make sure the complete fixture can operate properly and reliably with the new configuration.
This is especially important for professional rental and event applications, where fixtures may operate continuously for long periods and reliability matters just as much as output.
Adding Art-Net for Larger Lighting Systems
Another important requirement from the customer was Art-Net control.
As lighting systems become larger and fixtures use more control channels, network-based DMX distribution becomes increasingly useful for rental companies, touring productions and larger installations.
Adding Art-Net therefore isn't just about adding another feature to the specification sheet.
We need to consider how the fixture will communicate with the customer's existing lighting network, how the control system should be configured, and how to keep operation practical in real-world applications.
Listen First, Then Develop
This project also reflects the way we prefer to develop stage lighting products.
We don't believe product development should only happen behind an engineering desk.
Rental companies, lighting designers, distributors and technicians work with fixtures in real environments every day. Their requirements often reveal details that are difficult to discover from specifications alone.
That is why our process starts with listening:
Understand the application.Discuss the technical requirements.Evaluate what needs to change.Then build and test the right solution.
Sometimes a customer requirement results in only a small modification. Sometimes it becomes the beginning of the next version of a product.
From Customer Requirement to the MAG-780
The MAG-780 project starts from this discussion.
The current development direction is clear:
7 × 80W LED source + higher output + Art-Net control, developed from the existing MAG-760X platform while adapting the complete system to the new requirements.
The next step is engineering evaluation, configuration and testing.
For us, customer requirements are not simply “special requests.”
Very often, they show us where the next version of a product should go.
And this time, the MAG-780 starts from here.
